Prepare
Preparing for the therapy session is easy. First of all, check your GPS and my office address to make sure you’re going to the right location! My office is very easy to find. If you drive off the I-10 freeway at Grant you just turn left (north) on Stone and then turn right (east) one block before the next light at Glenn. That street is Kelso Street. My home/office is 5 or 6 blocks down and on the right or south side of the street. White wrought iron surrounds the home/office. If one does get lost, feel free to call me at 520-906-5655.
Preparation within the person is simple. You may want to write a list of issues that you want to discuss prior to the session and bring it with you. Also, ponder which family members you might want to invite to future sessions, especially those in which there is conflict. However, many resolutions can be achieved without anybody else involved in person but you. If you do bring children who will be involved in the session, please bring toys or activities to occupy the time while I’m talking to you. The children may play with my cats in the backyard. Glass French doors look out onto the backyard, so the children can be seen at all times.
Once inside the office you will be given a business card and some forms to fill out. Please bring your insurance card and your co-payment, which is due at the beginning of every session. I do accept credit card and HSA but must add on a processing surcharge fee. Cash is best.
Tele-Therapy and Face to Face Sessions
While we live in unprecedented and unpredictable times, I work as an individual entity so my therapy and office offer a unique environment. I am a solo practitioner and my practice is small so I see anywhere from one to four family members at a time. Mostly I see individuals or couples.
My office stands alone adjacent to my home. The office and grounds are professionally cleaned and landscaped. Although the first session necessitates you to come in person to complete paperwork, subsequent sessions are accessible through other options. In the spring and autumn, I offer sessions outside in the garden. For those who live in distant locations or if a client prefers, I offer telephone or just phone Telephonic/Video communication. However, complex therapies like Gestalt and EMDR require the client to be present. To purify the atmosphere I offer sage, incense, and, of course, prayer.
For Your First Session
- Create a list of issues/concerns.
- Bring your Insurance Card
- Bring your co-payment in check, cash, or Credit Card.
Please contact your insurance and ask:
- Is a referral from your primary physician required?
- Is there a yearly deductible? If so, has it been met?
- How much is the session co-pay?
- What is the fax number to which the provider may send claims?
Accepted Insurance
Note: Many insurances now waive the Yearly Deductible for Behavioral/Mental Health Therapy! So even if one has a $3,000 Yearly Medical Deductible it might be $0 for therapy. Call insurance and ask as it will not be on the insurance card and may be nowhere on website. (Session Co-pay, which is usually minimal, will always apply.)
